Why did shredding come back

Well I think I know. We all need some sort of a mark of virtuosity. Unfortunately in a nation starved for formal music education we accept the very basest of measures, pure speed. Sometimes with the great musicians, like Miles Davis, or BB King, it's not what you play, it's what you don't play. Or where you stand in the development of your instrument. Was Django as fast as your standard adolescent sweep picker? Probably not, but what did Django say musically as opposed to playing the same arpeggio or scale up and down and up and down.

Think about trying to critically listen next time you hear a guitar player or any musician.
